Aniya Thompson
“A vivacious in-your-face spark plug of a singer/performer”
Hiya! I’m Aniya!
pronounced: (uh-NIGH-yuh)
I'm a performer from Chicago, IL, with a passion for storytelling and a love for the stage! I’ve been performing since the age of 4 and don't plan on stopping anytime soon—it’s truly where I feel most at home. I’m known for my powerful belt, gorgeous low tones, and grounded acting choices!
I'm working towards my BFA in Musical Theatre from Western Michigan University with a minor in American Sign Language. I’ve had the pleasure of playing roles like Pearl in SpongeBob, and Marie in Cinderella, and this spring, I’ll step into the iconic role of Effie White in Dreamgirls!
Offstage, you can find me crocheting in a cozy corner, playing the Sims, looking really good in green ;), or spending time with my little sister—my biggest fan and favorite sidekick. My dream is to inspire brown girls, like her, to follow their passions and know that their stories matter.

I’m so excited about what’s coming up next in my journey! First, I’m taking the stage for my senior showcase on March 4th at Green Room 42 in NYC, where I’ll have the opportunity to share my growth, passion, and love for performing with an incredible audience. It’s a special moment as I celebrate all the hard work that’s brought me here.
Then, I’ll be diving into the role of a lifetime as Effie White in Dreamgirls at Western Michigan University. This iconic story, filled with powerful music and unforgettable moments, is one I’ve been dreaming of bringing to life, and I can’t wait to share it with you. We open March 28th, so mark your calendars, because this spring promises to be full of passion, music, and joy! Stay tuned for more updates!
