Aniya Thompson
“A vivacious in-your-face spark plug of a singer/performer”
Hiya! I’m Aniya!
pronounced: (uh-NIGH-yuh)
I'm a performer from Normal, IL, which is funny because I’m anything but! I have a passion for storytelling and a love for the stage! I’ve been performing since the age of 4 and don't plan on stopping anytime soon—it’s truly where I feel most at home. I’m known for my powerful belt, gorgeous low tones, and grounded acting choices!
I recently graduated with my BFA in Musical Theatre from Western Michigan University with a minor in American Sign Language. I’ve had the pleasure of most recently stepping into the iconic role of Effie White in Dreamgirls. I am ecstatic to see what opportunities are ahead!
Offstage, you can find me crocheting in a cozy corner, playing the Sims, looking really good in green ;), or spending time with my little sister—my biggest fan and favorite sidekick. My dream is to inspire brown girls, like her, to follow their passions and know that their stories matter.

I recently graduated from Western Michigan University with my BFA in Musical Theatre and a minor in American Sign Language. These past four years at this university have been life-changing, and I am so excited to see what the future holds!
I’m currently auditioning and building connections as I prepare for the next chapter of my journey—moving to New York City! I’m excited to dive into new creative opportunities, collaborate with passionate artists, and continue growing both personally and professionally in the heart of the theatre world.
